Crazy Ex-Boyfriend (Catches Many Charges)

A girl recently breaks up with her boyfriend and moves back home with her parents. Today she finds an apartment and moves in. She asks a guy friend for help and he agrees. While they are unpacking there is a knock at the door. The girl answers and it is her ex-boyfriend. The ex starts to yell, "Where is he?" and pushes his way past the girl (Burglary). He then proceeds to look for the male friend who is now hiding in the bathroom. The ex breaks down the door (Vandalism) and begins to punch the friend in the face.

The ex, who is 6'05" 250 lbs, and a trained cage fighter, punches the friend so hard and so many times he passes out (Aggravated Battery). The girlfriend the entire time is trying to pull the ex back, but he just throws her off like a rag doll (Simple Battery). The ex then flees the apartment but first punches and breaks her brand new big screen TV (Vandalism - again). The girl calls 911 and goes outside to see which way the ex is leaving. While outside the ex sees her on the phone and runs up to her and grabs her and take the phone with force (Strong Arm Robbery). He then runs back to his car where he breaks her phone in half and throws it in the street (Vandalism #3). He then flees. The friend has to go to the hospital for stitches and a cat scan for possible head injury.

We go to the ex's house but he is not home. I complete a report and a warrant for his arrest. He is already on probation for Burglary and Grand Theft Auto so we need to get this guy off the streets now. He is facing many felonies and will be locked up for a long long time. O and this ex, he is only 21 years old!

Caught Red Handed

In reference to this tweet - @policenotes Burglary in progress to vehicle. Witness watching now. Perimeter set. Here is the story. Witness observed two males walking around the parking lot. One had a towel wrapped around his hand. The two males walk over to a car and the one with the towel punches the window out. Apparently he cut himself while doing this so he ran back to a waiting vehicle while the other male entered the burglarized the car. As I was pulling in I see the males driving out of the complex and stop them. The one who cut himself has blood all over his hand. They say they are looking for the hospital because their friend cut his hand at home while making dinner. Their home is about 15 miles away. Likely story. The witness id's them and they all go off to jail. See I told you they were caught red handed!

Kids try to break into cars while armed with guns!

An off duty officer looks out his window and sees a kid looking into his neighbors car. The kid then tries to open all the doors by pulling on the handles but the car was locked. The officer yells at the kid who runs back to the car, which speeds off. Other officers and myself respond to the area and find the car. There are 3 kids inside who say they were going to a friends house but got lost. They are stopped down the street from the friend who comes out and tells us the kids have been to his house over 100 times in the past and there is no way they were lost. Inside the car we find 2 loaded guns. One revolver and one semi-automatic. They were stuck between the seats of the driver and front passenger. These kids were all tattooed up but denied being in any gang. The worst part is they were 17 and 18 years old. All got charged with attempted burglary and possession of a firearm.

Cops = 3
Burglars = 0 and 2 guns off the streets!

Citizen strikes back, burglar goes to jail.

A guy comes home to his apartment to see a male rummaging thru his wife’s car. He immediately jumps out of his car and yells at the guy. The guy looks up and takes off running. The victim chases after him thru the complex and corners him in the back parking lot, all while calling the police. The burglar fights with the victim but the victim clocks him one time and knocks him down. The burglary gets up and tries to run away again, but the victim catches him and holds him down until police arrive.

We handcuff the guy and he tries to tell us he was just walking home, which happens to be in the complex. Nice.......break into cars in your own neighborhood. No one said criminals were smart. Off to jail he goes.

Citizen = 1

Burglar = 0

I'm just trying to see my girlfriend officer.

An anonymous caller calls the police department and advises that she sees a male standing outside of an apartment and that he has been there for over 10 minutes. The caller states it looks like he is trying to break into the apartment. Upon arrival we can see the male at the front door of an apartment jiggling and pulling on the door handle. We watch him from cover and see him break off the metal glass breaker thingy from a nearby fire extinguisher. The male tries to use that to pry open the door.

As we watch him you can tell he is trying to do it very quietly. After a few unsuccessful tries the male turns to leave and runs right into our waiting arms. We order him to lay down which he refuses to do until he sees the taser's laser light on his chest. Once in custody we find marijuana and xanax in his pocket along with several Viagra pills. The male insists his girlfriend lives there and he was just trying to visit her. We contact the home owner who is the males ex-girlfriend. She says he has been calling her all night and she has been telling him to leave her alone. She had no idea he was at the apartment trying to break in and was pretty shaken up over it. They have been broken up for over a month and she wants to press charges. He is off to jail and she goes back to bed.

Burglars Meet K-9

We responded to a burglary in progress. The victim called and stated she saw 2 males breaking into cars in the parking lot and then flee on foot. We set up a perimeter and the K-9 dog comes to track them. The burglars had broken into a screened in back porch and hid in the laundry room. The K-9 dog tracked right to where they were hiding. They are both arrested and charged with numerous vehicle burglaries and 1 residential burglary. Good job K-9!

Car Burglary Prevention

Want to minimize the chances of becoming a victim of a car burglary? Did you know that most car burglaries happen because the driver left their car unlocked? Most burglars look for an open car door as a way of getting in. Once they are in they are free to steal whatever you might have left in there. And yes, it sometimes is for very inexpensive things such as change, sunglasses, your car registration, and cd's.

They also love stealing GPS systems, satellite radios, cell phones, and of course purses and wallets. Here are a few tips to keep in mind so you don't become the next victim.

  • Keep your car doors locked.
  • Never keep anything of value in your car. Not even a purse for 2 minutes while you drop your kid off at daycare.
  • If you have a GPS place it in the glove box or take it inside with you. Take down the mount for the GPS from the window. The burglars are looking for the mount only and still breaking in thinking the GPS is hidden somewhere inside.
  • Park in a well lit and populated area.
  • Do not keep change, sunglasses, or cd's in view.
  • If you have people over your house for a gathering, tell them not to leave valuables in their car. Make them bring it inside.
  • Do not keep your car title inside your glove box. Keep that in a safe place in your home.

If you follow these tips you should minimize your chances greatly of becoming a victim to a car burglar.
